Bo Got the Call

1712 CST
Hey Everybody just got a call from Bo he just got the call, I just spoke with him, Pray everything Goes Well, I will keep you posted as I get info. He was driving down and sounded calm and mellow and Christi was with him and doing well too.

2342 CST
up all night wondering how the procedure is going for Bo I hope this isn't a false alarm call (a false alarm call is a call that you get to come to the hospital for your transplant procedure and it does not happen for one reason or another. Examples of things that might stop the procedure would be if the donor lungs had some sort of undetected virus in them, if the recipient has a cold/virus or is running a temp, also for a lung transplant patient they check us over at the time of transplant to make sure the cancer has not spread to our lymph nodes if so the transplant won't take place.) Bo and Christi will be enjoying his new lungs in a few days once he is out of the ICU.

I now know how Stu (Lockheed Lung Transplant Buddy in California) felt when I called him to tell him that I had just gotten the call to come into the hospital for the transplant.

I will have to take a sleeping pill to sleep tonight.

  1. Hi Jerrold,
I came upon your blog when I was researching lung cancer treatments. My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 bac in April 2007. We recently went to Pittsburgh for a bi lateral lung transplant evaluation. Still awaiting results... they need more test done. Anyway your story touched my heart and I think you are AWESOME!!!! I would love to bend your ear on treatment ideas. Also Abby( my daughter) has a site.. www.caringbridge.org/visit/abbywilson
    and my e-mail is tina.wilson@cox.net
    We live in Georgia.
Thanks & God bless your whole family

  3. Jerrold,

I too am a SURVIVOR. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 BAC on April 19th, 2006. Never smoked, or grew up around it. 47 years old and devasted - for about a minute. After that, I just fought for my life. I've been taking TARCEVA (my miracle drug) for almost 25 months and I feel better than I did when I was diagnosed. Months of misdiagnosis (asthma, allergies, pneumonia, acid reflux...the list goes on) I was given a 1 in 5 shot of being alive a year after my diagnosis. Apparently, I don't do well with math because I'm still going strong. I have a blog (that's attached to Bonnie Addario's site) she calls it: "Someone you should know". If you've never met Bonnie, make it a mission. She has forever touched and changed my life.

I've met many other wonderful people with Lung Cancer but no one with BAC. I hope I can continue to be a success story like you. :) Keep up the good work.
